The North Shore is a magical place... send us your magical moments.

We spent a week at this amazing location a few months back. This is my second trip to the island, and my girlfriend’s fifth. Laura and Jake were readily available, and accommodating when setting up the arrangements. They also provided us some great tips on how to experience their little slice of heaven that proved their worth.

Upon arrival, we were amazed at the peacefulness of the street. As we walked through the gate, we were met with a wide array of tropical flowers and plumeria trees. As we continued walking around to our side of the house, we glimpsed green geckos skittering away... we had found paradise!

Entering the house, we found it to be well stocked with all the amenities you could ask for with clean, comfortable furnishings in excellent condition. There are books on local topics, and a few dvds, but I promise, you won’t turn on the tv for your whole stay.

As you walk out the back of the house, through a beautiful wooden, sliding-glass, door, you are met with a small glimpse of the ocean, just a hundred steps, at most, from the house. As you wind through a well-kept path, you are soon met with an incredible sight of the surf breaking against the reef. There is a small table, adjacent to the beach, perfect for a drink as you unwind after a day of discovery… this is where we spent every evening... watching the sun fall.

The neighbors were all very friendly, but to be honest, we only saw a handful during the seven days we stayed. Being December, we were able to see some of the largest waves the North Shore has to offer, and caught a bit of the Van’s Tour at Sunset Beach, and Pipeline. We also explored Haleiwa to our heart’s content. All of the places mentioned were just a very short drive from the house.

If you want to experience Oahu, and the North Shore, as it is supposed to be experienced, and want to stay away from the hustle and crowds, come visit Hale Nanea and relax in your own tranquil paradise!

Thank you, Laura and Jake, for giving me the perfect backdrop to propose... she said yes!

Side note, we purchased a Blue Euro Dane puppy when we arrived home. His name... Crozier

My wife and I first stayed at Hale Nanea in 2007 when the previous owner (and separate VRBO listing) ran the property. I was very pleased that all the charm is still there. This is a great stay for 2 people when you’ve had enough of Honolulu and just want to chill out with the most beautiful sunsets on the planet. You can also pretend you’re in Bali with the amazing decor.
Highly Recommended.

If you want to go to paradise and see a piece of the world that is truly breath taking this is the home you want to be in. I have been to this home several times and every time is takes my breath away. From the moment you walk in the front gate, smell the plumeria, you feel like you have just been put in the middle of a tropical garden. The owners have taken such great care in making you feel at home and at peace. It truly is your own piece of paradise for however long you choose to stay. I myself have stayed there 10-12 day stretches. It gave my family and I the time to tune out the rest of the world and spend time with each other.
The house is fully equipped with anything you might need. If you can’t find it the owner is very helpful in assisting you. Town is close so whatever you might need is a short drive away. You can be on the beach all day and see just 2 people. If you love snorkeling this is where you want to be. The sea life is amazing. Swimming with the turtles is unforgettable. They come up on shore at night and if you’re not careful when you walk out under the stars you might trip over a pile of them on the sand.
I have made many memories in this special place. It will give you peace, clarity, comfort, and unforgettable moments.

My wife and I got a chance to enjoy Lauren’s beautiful apartment for 3 nights for our one year anniversary! It was so amazing and we would have stayed 3 months instead of 3 nights if we could! When we walked through the gate both mine and my wife’s eyes lit up and looked at each other in amazement. It was absolutely beautiful. It literally feels like you just walked into a 5 star spa... and that is just the outside. You walk around a beautifully flowered pathway to the front of the house (beach side) to where the unit is. You walk in and can tell every little detail has been exceptionally thought out and decorated. It had the most beautiful and unique decorations from places all over the world. The bedroom is open and ventilated and the bathroom is spacious and clean. Very cool shower too! The appliances are all there for your use as well as a large dining room table and great living room space. Walk out the sliding glass doors down a pathway and you are ON THE BEACH! My wife and I sat and watched the stars there almost every night... it was beautiful :). We snorkeled during the day right in front of the house and we must say... it was just as good if not better than Hanauma Bay!! The best part of the whole thing is Lauren and her husband are the friendliest and warmest people you will ever meet. I needed an iron for a friends wedding we were attending and instead of letting us borrow hers, Lauren went out and bought us a brand new one and an ironing board! They also offered so much great info about the surrounding areas, beaches and restaurants that we couldn’t have been in better hands. We had an amazing time and will certainly not be staying anywhere else if we ever go back to the North Shore! They were so very helpful and generous and I will say without a doubt this is a 5 star experience. Thank you both!!!

nWhat a great spot. If you are looking for a quiet getaway on a beautiful beach this is it. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood. There is only one strip of houses along the beach on a private road. You will not hear any traffic noise. The house is very comfortable and beautifully decorated with custom furniture and accent pieces from Indonesia. The house is fully equipped. You will find everything you need. The gardens are full of beautiful flowers and trees. There are five different color Plumeria trees and lovely water gardens. The beach is spectacular. A lagoon runs for miles along the shoreline where turtles graze on the coral and haul out and sun on the warm sand. You will see a lot more turtles than people. You can walk for miles without seeing anyone. The beach faces due North and you can find sun and shade on the beach all day. I especially enjoyed sitting at the table just off the beach in the shade of a large Ironwood tree and ringing the large bronze bell. I was presently surprised that everything was more beautiful than the photos. Jake and Laura are wonderful hosts. They can be very helpful regarding things to do and places to visit during you stay. It’s a wonderful spot. I highly recommend it. Thank you for sharing it with me.

As soon as I walked in the front door I fell in love! My boyfriend and I have stayed in Honolulu prior and decided this time we would try something less commercial and more island like. This place was perfect! It is steps from the water. You can hear the waves as you’re falling asleep. The place was truly magical. We will definitely visit again!
